Who We Are

Mission: To “hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor,” by caring for our “little portion” of creation and giving our harvest to those in need.

Little Portion Farm, established in 2018 by the Franciscan Friars Conventual, provides fresh food to those in need while promoting sustainable farming. Located on the grounds of the Shrine of St. Anthony in Maryland, we transitioned the land from industrial agriculture to a diverse, eco-friendly farm. Inspired by Pope Francis’ *Laudato si’*, we focus on restoring the land and supporting the poor. Since 2019, we’ve donated over 60,000 pounds of produce to the Franciscan Center of Baltimore and serve as a space for community reflection, service, and education.

What We Do

Little Portion Farm fulfills its mission by growing diverse crops using sustainable methods and donating the produce to those in need through the Franciscan Center in Baltimore. We promote biodiversity, support pollinators, and engage the community in service and education, all while caring for both the earth and the vulnerable.
