As a Mock Interviewer, you'll support clients as they practice essential interview and self-marketing skills, build confidence, and prepare for today's competitive workforce. We all remember how stressful interviews can be-your time and encouragement can transform that anxiety into achievement. Your guidance directly supports individuals completing specialized job training and preparing to reenter the workforce with confidence and clarity.

What to expect:

Arrive at 8:30 a.m. for a brief 30-minute orientationConduct 2-5 one-on-one practice interviews with clientsProvide written feedback using a simple evaluation formParticipate in a group panel discussion to share general feedback and answer client questions

Join us as a Presentation Evaluator Volunteer and play a key role in preparing our clients for real-world professional settings. At Maryland New Directions (MND), our clients participate in team-based projects that build confidence, communication, and collaboration skills. Your feedback helps bring it all together. 

What You'll Do 

Observe team presentations and evaluate overall performance using a structured evaluation guide. Assess whether teams gathered and presented all required information for their project phaseProvide feedback on professionalism, including attire and overall presentation presenceEvaluate delivery—were presenters prepared, organized, engaging, and enthusiastic?Look for teamwork—did each team member contribute meaningfully to the presentation? Assess communication skills—voice projection, eye contact, and audience engagementNote presentation habits—did presenters rely too heavily on slides or read directly rather than engage? Evaluate ownership of content—did the team present confidently as if they represented the company, using language like "we" and "our"?Deliver collective feedback to the group, highlighting strengths and offering constructive tips for improvement in the next phase.

At Maryland New Directions (MND), our no-cost clothing boutique isn't just about outfits; it's about confidence, dignity, and fresh starts. You'll play a key role in helping job-seekers show up looking and feeling their best. 

What You'll Do

Style clients for success and help them select outfits that feel professional, comfortable, and authenticCreate a boutique experience by organizing and displaying clothing in a way that's inviting and easy to shopSort and prepare donations to ensure items are clean, appropriate. and ready for client use. Support sustainability by identifying items to redonate and keep inventory fresh and relevantWelcome donors by receiving clothing contributions and assisting with donation forms. Be a confidence booster by offering encouragement, reassurance, and constructive feedback to clients.
