The purpose of the opportunity is to assist those impacted by disaster in their immediate needs regarding health care: help replace medications, medical equipment, or supplies lost to the disaster, provide education, and conduct health assessments to determine if a higher level of care is needed. Disaster Health Services Team Members can also provide hands on care for shelter clients locally or deployed to other regions during large scale disasters. A disaster health services deployment is for 10 days. Time Commitment: During normal operations the time commitment is about 4 hours per month after initial training. For those who volunteer to support a large-scale disaster, the time commitment is 8-12 hours per day, multiple days (10 days if they deploy to another region).
