Maryland Office of the Attorney General - Consumer Protection Division
-
Justice and Legal Services

Mission: To provide mediation services to consumers to help resolve complaints against businesses and health insurance carriers.
The Consumer Protection Division provides mediation services to consumers to help resolve complaints against businesses and health insurance carriers. The Division also provides information about complaints that have been filed against businesses, info.
The Consumer Protection Division is located in a convenient downtown Baltimore location, near the Light Rail and Metro, and we offer free parking. We also have volunteers working in our Prince George’s County office in Largo.
Our volunteers provide an invaluable service to Maryland consumers. They respond to consumer inquiries on the telephone hotline, and mediate consumer complaints against businesses and health care providers. They settle disputes in sales, repairs, debt collection, defective products, false advertising, health spas, housing and medical bills. Volunteers receive training in mediation and learn valuable skills. Volunteers in the Division’s Mediation Unit are asked to work 10 hours per week, split between two days, keeping a regular schedule. We ask for at least a six-month commitment.
