Who We Are

Mission: To enhance the livability of Baltimore County’s urban communities by protecting, restoring, and stewarding land for small parks, gardens, trails, and natural areas.

NeighborSpace is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation land trust dedicated to preserving and enhancing open spaces in our communities. By combining strategic conservation planning with community engagement, we work to protect environmentally valuable sites and transform them into vibrant spaces that benefit both people and nature. Partnering with community members, volunteers, nonprofits, and local experts, NeighborSpace ensures that these vital spaces remain accessible, beautiful, and sustainable for generations to come.

What We Do

NeighborSpace focuses on conserving and restoring environmentally significant sites such as riparian forest buffers, stream habitats, and forests. Using advanced GIS tools, we identify valuable conservation areas and implement restoration projects, including stormwater best management practices, native plantings, and pollinator gardens. We also plant edible forests, install signs, benches, and trails, and create engaging spaces for public enjoyment.

In addition to restoration, NeighborSpace highlights the history of neighborhoods through community-driven tours and interviews, fostering a deeper connection between residents and their environment. Our projects improve water quality, reduce erosion, clean the air, and build stewardship capacity, all while enhancing the natural beauty and ecological health of our communities. Together, we cultivate spaces where nature and neighbors thrive.
