Who We Are
Mission: To take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, building community, sharing knowledge and advocating for patients.
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) Maryland Affiliate is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by pancreatic cancer. The organization’s mission is to take bold action to advance scientific research, share knowledge, build community, and advocate for patients. It aims to create a world in which all individuals with pancreatic cancer will thrive by tackling the disease from multiple angles, including research, support, and awareness-building.
What We Do
PanCAN is leading the fight against pancreatic cancer while providing support to all those affected by the disease. We do this through:
- Research – We fund transformative research – everything from early detection to innovative new treatment approaches.
- Patient Services – we provide free information about treatment options, diet and nutrition, support resources and more, and we can answer all your questions along the way. Patients and caregivers who contact Patient Services are matched with a Patient Services Case Manager who provides support throughout their pancreatic cancer journey.
- Advocacy – We work with thousands of grassroots advocates to urge Congress to increase federal research funding for pancreatic cancer.
- Community – Our local volunteer Affiliates are spread across the country and provide supporters with the opportunity to volunteer, participate in community events, and help raise awareness of pancreatic cancer. Our Maryland Affiliate is focused on spreading the word about pancreatic cancer signs and symptoms and helping members of our community reduce their risk and stay informed.
