Guiding Eyes for the Blind

Who We Are

Guiding Eyes for the Blind provides guide dogs to people with vision loss. We are passionate about connecting exceptional dogs with individuals for greater independence. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we provide all services completely free of charge to people who are blind or with vision loss. At Guiding Eyes, we rely upon the contributions of our generous donors to fulfill our mission. More than 2,000 volunteers are a vital part of our Guiding Eyes community. They participate in everything from raising, training, and socializing potential guide dogs to supporting our day-to-day operations. Our puppy raising regions stretch from Maine to North Carolina, and west to Colorado, with additional opportunities for remote puppy raisers now available.

What We Do

Volunteers raise and socialize puppies to prepare them for becoming guide dogs for the visually impaired. Puppy raising is a rewarding experience that involves the entire household. Learning life lessons, giving to others, and learning about dogs are among the reasons people are drawn to raising a potential guide dog puppy. Along the way, they gain a deeper understanding of dog development, learn meaningful life lessons, and experience the joy of serving others.
