Role Overview
The Math Thru Music Instructor is an engaging volunteer who supports Evolve Community Foundation, Inc. (ECFINC) by combining music, DJing, and education to help youth learn math concepts in fun, interactive, and culturally relevant ways. This role uses music as a teaching tool to strengthen numeracy, rhythm, problem-solving, and critical thinking while fostering creativity and confidence.
The Math Thru Music Instructor works under the supervision of ECFINC staff and supports structured, age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with the B.E.A.C.H. Life Track to Success and Purpose Community Operating System™.
Roles & Responsibilities

Assist with or lead music-based math enrichment activities using DJing concepts

Help youth learn math through rhythm, tempo, counting, fractions, patterns, and timing

Support hands-on activities using DJ equipment, music software, or music theory basics

Encourage creativity, participation, and teamwork in a safe, structured environment

Reinforce positive behavior, respect, and non-violent conflict resolution

Support the setup, operation, and breakdown of music and DJ equipment

Collaborate with staff to align activities with academic and program goals

Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and youth safety protocols
Qualifications & Expectations

Interest or experience in DJing, music production, or music education

Interest in working with youth and supporting learning through creative methods

Basic understanding of math concepts (formal teaching experience not required)

Ability to communicate clearly and engage youth in group settings

Willingness to follow curriculum guidance and staff direction
Youth-Serving & Safety Requirements

Completion of the ECFINC volunteer application and onboarding

Background check and/or fingerprinting as required by Baltimore County

Participation in orientation and youth safety training

Adherence to ECFINC policies, code of conduct, and supervision protocols
