Role Overview
The Nonprofit Tax Accountant is a skilled volunteer who supports Evolve Community Foundation, Inc. (ECFINC) by providing tax-related expertise and guidance specific to nonprofit organizations. This role helps ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements while strengthening ECFINC’s financial accountability and long-term sustainability.
The Nonprofit Tax Accountant works in collaboration with ECFINC leadership, the Board of Trustees, and finance staff or volunteers and does not engage in program delivery or youth supervision.
Roles & Responsibilities

Provide guidance on nonprofit tax compliance, including federal and state filing requirements

Assist with preparation or review of IRS Form 990 and related schedules

Support compliance with Maryland charitable, tax, and reporting requirements

Advise on tax implications related to grants, donations, earned revenue, and restricted funds

Review financial records and documentation for tax accuracy and readiness

Assist with responses to tax-related inquiries or audits, if applicable

Support development and refinement of financial and tax policies and procedures

Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical accounting standards
Qualifications & Expectations

Professional background in accounting, tax preparation, or financial management

Experience with nonprofit tax regulations and reporting preferred
